FMCG supply chain

The FMCG supply chain, one leg at a time

In FMCG distribution, most packaged goods pass through three hands before they reach a kirana shelf: the plant or brand depot, a super stockist, and a distributor who serves the shops in a town. Together they make up the FMCG distribution channel. The trade calls the first hop primary distribution and the rest secondary distribution. Pick the leg you ship. All three move as part load, so you pay for the space your cases use.

Leg 01

Plant to super stockist

Primary distribution: cases leaving a plant or brand depot for super stockists in each region. We collect from your dock, issue the LR at pickup and move the cases on a scheduled lorry to the destination branch. Order sizes swing with schemes and seasons, and part load keeps a smaller week from costing a full truck.

FMCG transport

How FMCG transport works with us

Part truck load (PTL), or less than truck load (LTL), is how most secondary FMCG freight moves: your cases fill part of a lorry and share it with other goods on the same route. We run fixed, scheduled routes on our own closed-body lorries rather than market vehicles, and every vehicle carries GPS and FASTag, so the lanes behave like a regular FMCG distribution network.

FAQ

FMCG logistics questions

For anything else, call your nearest branch or send us an enquiry.

What is FMCG logistics?

FMCG logistics is the movement of fast-moving consumer goods, such as packaged food, groceries, personal care and household products, from plants to stockists, distributors and shops. These goods sell quickly and shops reorder often, so the freight moves in frequent, smaller loads. We handle road transport for the dry, packaged side.

What is the difference between primary and secondary distribution?

Primary distribution moves stock from the plant or brand depot to super stockists or distributors, usually in larger loads. Secondary distribution moves it from distributors to retailers in smaller, more frequent lots. We carry both as part load.

Do you deliver to kirana stores?

Yes. Last mile delivery takes each consignment from our destination branch to the store’s address. Use the pin code check to confirm the town before you book.

Do you carry chilled or frozen goods?

No. We carry packaged goods that travel at room temperature. We do not offer refrigerated or temperature-controlled transport, so dairy, ice cream and other chilled products need a cold chain carrier.

We are an FMCG distributor. Can you handle our town deliveries?

Yes. An FMCG distributor usually sends small lots to many retailers in and around one town. Book each store as its own consignment with its own LR, and check the towns with the pin code check first. FMCG distribution companies with several distributors can book the same way from each depot.

Do you send delivery updates?

Regular accounts get WhatsApp delivery alerts and MIS reports by email, and anyone with the LR number can track a consignment on our track page.

Which areas do you cover?

Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Chennai, plus Tumakuru in Karnataka, from our branches in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Kadapa. That is 145 delivery locations in all, including Ambattur, Koyambedu, Madhavaram, Red Hills and Wall Tax Road in Chennai. Use the pin code check to confirm a distributor’s town before you book.

How long does FMCG delivery take?

From Vijayawada, it is 24 hours to Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Chennai, and 48 hours to Tirupati, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram. From Hyderabad, it is 24 hours to Vijayawada, Guntur and Kurnool. From Visakhapatnam, it is 24 hours to Vijayawada, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram, and 48 hours to Tirupati. The rest of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is covered within 72 hours. Bookings placed before 4:00 PM qualify for the next slot. Times are indicative and confirmed at booking, and the pin code check shows the time for your town.

Can you collect from our plant or stockist godown?

Door pickup and delivery is one of our core services, so yes. Add your pickup address when you request a pickup or a rate. Pickups can run daily, weekly, bi-weekly or tri-weekly, planned around how often you dispatch.

How is FMCG part load freight charged?

You pay for the weight of your consignment on the lane it travels, not for a whole vehicle. We charge on actual weight or volumetric weight, whichever is higher. Use the freight calculator for an indicative band, then ask your branch for a firm rate.

What if our dispatch is more than 3 tonnes?

Ask about our Speed Service. For loads above 3 tonnes we can send a dedicated vehicle from Vijayawada, Hyderabad or Visakhapatnam once the destination, vehicle and timing are agreed. Tell us the weight and our booking team will advise.
